She passed away this year at 17 years and 3 months from heart failure. She was happy and still pretty active up until the last 2 days of her life. It was all of a sudden. Her death surprised everyone including her vets. The last 6 months of her life, it was difficult to keep her eating. I tried a lot of foods and I just wanted to share some ideas with you. I know how hard it is to keep them fed and hydrated. Nicki loved goats milk. I gave her Answers goat milk. If you are concerned about the fact that it is raw - I have also tried Honest Kitchen's Pro Bloom dehydrated goats milk which I believe is pasteurized. The only canned dog food that would entice Nicki to eat was Halo Spot's Stew. I also made jerky for her. Cut beef into slices and hang with toothpicks in the oven at 180F for about 2-3 hours. They had to still be slightly soft. Often she would wake up with a "squeaky" stomach (borborygmus). Nobody could ever pinpoint why this was happening. But that meant that she would not eat at all. It was terrible, since it started happening more and more. I found that the only thing that would settle her stomach within a few hours - and then she would eat!!!- was Crisis Care Paste made by Complete Natural Nutrition. It's a nutritional paste that restores the g.i. tract. It always worked and it was a lifesaver at keeping her weight and energy levels up. I am not sure if I am supposed to post info about all these products here. I read your post and remembered the struggles that I had to keep Nicki going, and I know how hard it is. These were some lifesavers that I found very helpful when I went through this with my dog and I felt that it may be helpful to you. Wishing you and Savannah many more happy times!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02738371414811833401noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4667516629745731439.post-72692001713737657252013-10-31T17:45:54.271-07:002013-10-31T17:45:54.271-07:00How old is she?How old is she?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10329733488229940016noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4667516629745731439.post-14580568844586536872013-10-31T17:41:57.108-07:002013-10-31T17:41:57.108-07:00Thanks so much for participating in TNT.
