We humans feed it because it is convenient for us. I understand why you might be partial to Science Diet food, but have you actually looked at the ingredient list on those things? they are far what I would call an ideal diet for an obligate carnivore who lacks the digestive enzymes to break down plant matter.Connie - Tails from the Foster Kittenshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01127077337743262149noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4667516629745731439.post-79743475614056877742015-04-05T17:35:58.440-07:002015-04-05T17:35:58.440-07:00Hello,

But you still have to be careful of the protein content as it is harder on the kidneys to process this.
Thanks for stopping by,krista magnifico, DVMhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15133566329579911573noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4667516629745731439.post-9469460701517146542015-03-30T10:48:23.604-07:002015-03-30T10:48:23.604-07:00Great article. I've went back and forth on what to feed over the years (and sometimes the cats just quit eating a certain brand so a switch has to be done) but the best thing I ever did for my kitties was build a giant enclosed catio. They tend towards 'skinny' (thin and fit) now instead of the obesity they were edging towards. I know it's not an option for everyone, but it sure has worked wonders for them. Kinda drives ME crazy though to hear that cat flap snick-snick open and shut all the time.....
TammyTammyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02131066591477169851noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4667516629745731439.post-51179028771974778642015-03-30T09:09:35.944-07:002015-03-30T09:09:35.944-07:00I started adding a can of water to a can of wet fo...I started adding a can of water to a can of wet food for my renal and diabetic kitties ages ago and found that all my cats like this so do it now for all my cats. I assume this, along with water fountains, helps keep their kidneys healthy though I don't know whether this is true or not.Edward Murrayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06688920261195088879noreply@blogger.com
